Proposition #: 64
A.K.A: Marijuana Legalization
Our vote: No
Are we alone? There is a diverse group of opponents.
Here is the bottom line:
This bill is so far away from complete it’s just a speck on the horizon. It lacks any type of foresight into additional regulations that would be needed if marijuana was legal. There are no standards to judge a DUI. Let’s be honest, California has enough bad drivers as it is – we don’t need them driving around under the influence. We need guidelines and penalties for those who put people in harms way by recklessly getting behind the wheel stoned.
This proposition also doesn’t restrict marijuana from inundating our kids. They can plant crops near schools and parks, and they can also throw in commercials during Saturday morning cartoons. Why does that sound like a good idea? That’s right, it doesn’t.
Still not convinced? How about the fact that convicted drug dealers that slung meth and heroin will be able to get licenses to sell marijuana. Now that just sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen.
If marijuana legalization is going to happen – this isn’t the way to do it.
