This memorial award honors former Executive Director Lorelei Kinder, who passed away in 2012 in honor of her lifetime of indefatigable work on behalf of the Republican Party. Lorelei has always had a special place in our hearts and devoted many hours to assisting young volunteers and activists.
The award is given at the CRP’s convention immediately following the election to a young volunteer who has demonstrated outstanding involvement and potential with the California Republican Party. The candidate for the award needs to have been heavily involved in campaign activities. The applicant should be 25 years or younger.
Biography of Lorelei Kinder
Lorelei Kinder was a woman of many aspects: mother, wife, politico, avocado grower, and most importantly, a mentor. Through the decades, Lorelei fostered and helped shape new generations of youth activists who would go on to be consultants, party board members, elected officials, and true believers of the Conservative gospel. No one believed more in the core principals of the Grand Old Party. Lorelei was everything young activists in politics aspire to be. She was selected to be the first female Executive Director of the CRP in the late 1970s, and would later come back in the 1990s to fulfill the role once again. During President Reagan's run for President she was the Western Region Political Director and managed 13 states and their operations. Lorelei's political legacy will live on through the recipients of this award to be given annually to a deserving young, up and coming activist.
This award given to the deserving young activist includes a two-night complimentary room (room and parking) at the CRP Convention. The winner will also receive one ticket to the Friday dinner, Saturday lunch, and Saturday dinner banquets, as well as the corresponding VIP receptions.
The scholarship will be awarded to an exemplary applicant chosen by a committee of the CRP Board of Directors. The applicant should be 25 years or younger.
