StatementsStatement By California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring On The Results Of The New Hampshire PrimaryPosted: Tuesday, January 8, 2008 (SACRAMENTO) - California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring tonight issued the following statement concerning the results of the presidential primary in New Hampshire: "We have a real race on our hands, and one of the most fluid I've seen in twenty years in politics.
"It's clear following tonight's results that Californians will vote before it's clear who will carry each party's banner into November. As a result, Californians have more influence over the ultimate result of this primary contest than at any time in recent memory. "Republicans will choose from a diverse field of capable leaders who understand the need to protect taxpayers by limiting taxes and the size of government, and keeping our nation on the offensive in the war on terror. "On the Democrat side, it looks like voters have to choose between the far left, and the really far left. The primaries have revealed a Democratic field pursuing a bigger, more intrusive, and more expensive federal government bureaucracy funded by higher taxes on everyone, including Californians. Higher taxes at home and surrender abroad appear to be policies at the heart of the Democrat agenda. "Senator Clinton's troubles continue to mount as Democrat voters have the same difficulty trusting her as Republican voters, especially after watching her engage in the same ‘politics of personal destruction' against Barack Obama that she claims to lament. "Barack Obama's total lack of experience in security and foreign policy issues critical to our nation in a post-9/11 world will continue to undermine his electability in a general election. His experience in foreign relations appears limited to his state's proximity to Hawaii in the Senate roster." ### |
