Statement From California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring Concerning the Southern California Fires

"Our thoughts and prayers are with our families, friends and fellow Californians affected by the cruel and indiscriminate wild fires in our state.

"When I was a member of the state Board of Forestry and Fire Protection appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger, I had the opportunity to meet with many of the courageous men and women who are today at work fighting the dozen fires burning throughout Southern California. Our first responders, together with volunteers and neighbors helping neighbors, are all heroes this week.

"The latest reports tally over 1,800 homes and structures lost, many injuries, and some loss of life. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this terrible disaster. As our public safety officials and first responders continue their courageous work, I ask that you keep all those affected by the fires in your prayers and take a moment to see how you might be able to send a helping hand to those in need."

The American Red Cross, state, and local agencies are accepting donations to help with the relief effort. Aid, asked for in the form of prepared food, snacks, water, cots, tents, and blankets, is being gathered in many areas for the various relief efforts. Please consider helping in any way you can.
