StatementsStatement By California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring Condemning Rep. Henry Waxman's Failure To Join Bipartisan Resolution Denouncing MoveOn.org AdPosted: Thursday, September 27, 2007 (SACRAMENTO) - California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring today issued the following statement condemning California Congressman Henry Waxman for his failure to vote in favor of House Resolution 52 denouncing a MoveOn.org ad that referred to General David Petraeus as "General Betray Us." "California Congressman Henry Waxman failed to join a bipartisan group of Republicans and Democrats in condemning the MoveOn.org ad that referred to General David Petraeus as ‘General Betray Us,'" said California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring. "Congressman Waxman's failure on this issue demonstrates not only his lack of regard for members of our armed services, but also the moral latitude he and other defeatists give to those who serve no purpose but to embolden our enemies and undermine our military commanders. We should be doing all we can to support, not undercut our military commanders, as it is they who have the critical charge of ensuring the safety and success of our military personnel while they undertake their mission."
Bipartisan Support For H.R. Resolution 53 (341-79 vote) Roll call vote: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2007/roll910.xml#N "House Condemns MoveOn.org Attack" By a 341-79 vote, the House passed a resolution praising the patriotism Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, and condemning a MoveOn.org ad that referred to Petraeus as 'General Betray Us.'
