StatementsStatement By California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring Calling For The Return Of All Monies Received From Norman Hsu![]() Posted: Friday, August 31, 2007 "Mr. Norman Hsu is a fugitive felon who pleaded no contest to grand theft charges stemming from an investment scam in the early 1990s. "According to newspaper reports, Mr. Hsu failed to show up for his sentencing on the no contest plea leading the court to issue a bench warrant for Hsu's arrest. Despite these years living as a fugitive, Mr. Hsu was given access to Democrat elected officials and candidates by virtue of serving as a major fundraiser for them and their causes, most notably for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton as noted in recent reports. "Mr. Hsu lives in New York State and is represented by counsel who has spoken freely to reporters in the last few days about the controversy. Mr. Hsu has cancelled plans to appear in California at a public political fundraiser for Clinton, scheduled for September 2007. "In light of these events, we call on all Democratic candidates, officials, and the California Democratic Party to immediately return all money received from Norman Hsu. "On Tuesday, September 4, 2007, the California Republican Party will also call for the FPPC to investigate whether Assemblywoman Fiona Ma and the Paw Family laundered Hsu's money into state campaigns."
