StatementsDemocrats Show Their True Colors in Healthcare Debate Embrace Extremist Agenda of Propagandist Filmmaker Michael MoorePosted: Tuesday, June 12, 2007 Today, Sacramento Democrats left no doubt where they really stand in the debate over strengthening California's healthcare future. Literally rolling out the red carpet to welcome Michael Moore, the discredited filmmaker, to the State Capitol, the Democrats warmly embraced the Soviet-style healthcare he showcases in his new propaganda reel, "Sicko." In fact, Democrats could win an Academy Award for best impersonation of a moderate politician while trying to destroy California's healthcare system and impose the largest tax increase on businesses in state history.
The concerns of business owners about the devastating impact the Democrat jobs tax plan would have on our economy fall on deaf ears in the State Capitol, yet a ranting conspiracy theorist like Michael Moore is welcomed by Speaker Fabian Núñez with open arms and given a platform to spout his extreme views. Speaking before a raucous crowd of t-shirt wearing special interests at a so-called "informational hearing" on his latest film, Moore spoke of his desire to see health providers criminally prosecuted for following free market principles in trying to make healthcare more efficient and affordable for all Californians.
As a filmmaker, Moore has been roundly criticized for his less-than-honest filmmaking techniques, his frequent use of half-truths and downright fiction to support his outlandish claims, and his strong support of fringe causes and outside-the-mainstream conspiracy theories. In his latest film on healthcare, he allegedly broke U.S. law in traveling to Communist Cuba to promote their healthcare system, going so far as to attempt to enter the U.S. military base at Guantanamo Bay, where our terrorist enemies are currently being housed.
Californians have seen this bad movie of record tax increases and bloated government-run healthcare directed by Sacramento Democrats and they continue to give it two thumbs down.
If Democrats strike box office gold in the Legislature and succeed in pushing through their massive, government-run healthcare scheme that will force all Californians to endure long waits and rationed care, hard-working taxpayers and small business owners will be at the top of the casting list to star in the sequel to Moore's film, "Sicko II: The Death of California's Economy."
