Barajas October 3, 2007 (916) 448-9496 Statement By California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring On Cong. Jerry McNerney's Refusal To Give Back Funds Received From MoveOn.Org Today, California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring released the following statement concerning Democrat Congressman Jerry McNerney's calls to stop the discussion over liberal, anti-war group MoveOn.org's attacks on our military commanders: "It looks like liberal Congressman Jerry McNerney is trying to avoid public scrutiny of his questionable decision to not return $50,000 in contributions to his political campaign by the radical anti-war group MoveOn.org. "This isn't just about a newspaper ad, it's about Jerry McNerney and his party being bought and paid for by a fringe group that is way outside the mainstream of his California district. "Jerry McNerney should stop calling for an end to the just criticisms of his anti-military financiers and himself move on from their donations, talking points, and defeatism." Eli Pariser Wrote An Email To MoveOn Members Claiming They "Bought" And "Own" The Democrat Party "[MoveOn] members received an e-mail urging them to get involved in the fight over the Democratic National Committee chairmanship by contacting state party leaders. In a combative letter, Pariser wrote, ‘Now it's our Party: we bought it, we own it, and we're going to take it back.'"
