In Case You Missed ItNo on Prop 93 TV Ad Campaign Launched![]() Posted: Monday, January 7, 2008
NO on PROP 93 TELEVISION CAMPAIGN EXPOSES SELF-SERVING POLITICIANS BEHIND EFFORT TO LENGTHEN TERMS Sacramento – The No on Proposition 93 campaign announced today that it launched its television advertising this past weekend, beginning with the airing of ads in select TV markets throughout the state. The ads utilize newspaper articles and editorials to highlight the cynical maneuvers of the measure’s two primary sponsors - and beneficiaries of - Proposition 93 - Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata. Both legislators are termed out of office next year, yet if Proposition 93 was to pass, Nunez could remain as Speaker until 2014 (the end of the next Governor’s term in office) and Perata could remain as Senate President Pro Tem until 2012. "The message is ‘Voter Beware!’ Voters deserve to know that Proposition 93 is a trick and a sham. It doesn’t toughen term limits – it actually lengthens terms for most politicians. There is a special loophole in the initiative so that 42 termed out legislators, including Perata and Nunez, could remain in office if Prop. 93 passes. Don Perata and Fabian Nunez are trying to sell Prop. 93 as ‘good government’ – but that’s not a term that’s ever been associated with either politician – particularly given the scandals plaguing both their tenures as legislative leaders. The ads simply point out that Proposition 93 is written by politicians for politicians," concluded Spillane. The ads are available for viewing on the campaign website, www.StopProp93.com Watch Video |
