California`s Party of yes
The California Republican Party is bringing its solutions to protect education and taxpayers directly to you with our “Right Track, California!” tour. We’re hitting the rails and roadways to let Californians know that there’s an alternative to holding voters hostage to holding voters hostage to a tax increase under the threat of devastating education cuts.
The GOP Says Yes to:
  • JOBS
  • SOLUTIONS
  • TAX RELIEF
The Los Angeles Times in an editorial this year called the GOP in California the “Party of Yes” for standing up for good government and introducing a series of bills aimed at enacting muchneeded pension reform to save California taxpayers money!* The reforms are even supported by Governor Jerry Brown, but Legislative Democrats so far have said NO to these reforms that California voters want!

*Los Angeles Times Editorial:
California`s Party of Yes, 2/26/2012
REPUBLICANS WANT TO PROTECT EDUCATION AND OUR FUTURE GENERATION…

  • $4.5 Billion to Protect Education: The Republican Budget roadmap is designed to stave off devastating trigger cuts to higher education and massive new tax increases, by using prior budget solutions to shift funds from other areas of California’s budget.

  • Republicans want A Safe Atmosphere for Children: Current California law makes it extremely difficult to suspend or dismiss a permanent teacher; the process can be more than 12 steps and could take up to 8 years. Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff introduced SB 1059 designed to streamline the process of suspending and dismissing teachers for unprofessional and/or criminal behavior. Democrats said “no” to these reforms.

  • Use One-Time Windfall To Protect Classrooms, Pay Down Debt: Don`t repeat the mistakes of the past by using one-time funding for on-going programs. Let`s prioritize what matters most, protecting classrooms and preventing our children from paying for this generation`s wall of debt.

  • Streamline Government and Halt New Programs: Republicans want to make existing programs more efficient, saving $200 million.
DEMOCRATS WANT TO HOLD EDUCATION HOSTAGE AND PANDER TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNIONS…

  • Education Still Suffers:“If the Governor`s measure passes, it will provide no new money for education. If it fails, there will be more significant cuts. K-14 education will be cut by $4.9 billion -- a loss of about $370 per K-12 student and millions more to community colleges and universities.”

  • Politics over Safety of Children:Senate Democrats rejected SB 1059 because of the protests of the public employee unions. The current dismissal process can be more than 12 steps and could take up to 8 years. Dismissal proceedings are currently so extensive, they cost Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) an average of $300,000 for each case.

  • More Tax Increases:Democrats want to raise taxes again despite our chronically weak economy. They want to raise our sales tax to 7.75% and increase our top income tax rate to the highest in the country 13.3%. High taxes and regulations caused our problems, they are not the cure.
